You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a
hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft
animal of your body love what it loves~ Mary Oliver, Wild Geese

Get to Know My Flow

My signature Slow Flow Classes are rooted in the vinyasa tradition. Every class dedicates time for both movement and mediation. You can expect an unhurried pace and a balanced physical practice that addresses all part of your body. Whether we are flowing or in stillness, I will offer you new ways of working with your breath and encourage you to try on different breath techniques. I often share inspired readings as opportunities to lean into the philosophical and spiritual teachings of yoga and the holistic arts.

Throughout class you will be invited to draw on your own intuition even as you are being guided. In this way, you and I become cocreators of the experience. My role is to offer you different options so you can meet yourself right where you are and give yourself what you need.

Start where you are. Be kind to yourself. And remember, this practice never leaves us where we started.

FAQ

Absolutely! Yoga can be practiced at any age. In fact, yoga is particularly beneficial for people 30+ years old when the regeneration power of the body is declining and resistance to illness is weakened. Yoga generates energy, as opposed to using it. Unlike other exercises, yoga creates a concentration of immunity cells in areas that are prone to disease, thus improving the function of your immune system. This is why doctors are now beginning to prescribe yoga to aid or cure ailments. It is a restorative and preventative science.

Yes, yes, yes! Most postures can be modified and structured to accommodate injuries—sometimes, the teacher may have you use props and sometimes, he/she may direct you towards a modification of the posture, or maybe even a different posture altogether. Please let your teacher know of any preexisting medical condition or injury so he/she can help you appropriately.

Yes, yoga can be practiced as part of or entirely as a weight-loss regimen. Vinyasa Flow yoga, in particular, helps shed unwanted pounds for several reasons: the movement through poses and focus on breath not only provide a cardiovascular workout but also helps increase your metabolism and stabilize your hormonal system. The awareness and meditative aspects of the practice make you more centered, conscious, and stress-free which helps you develop better eating and sleep habits. Not only this, yoga does wonders for your posture, muscle tone, flexibility, and strength. It should be said, however, that you need to practice consistently to get results; particularly for weight loss, you should commit to practicing at least 3–4 times per week.

Yoga is an ancient mind/body practice that cultivates mental clarity, heightens self-awareness, promotes physical and mental calm, and overall improves your well-being. It is a holistic approach that has been utilized for years to elevate mood, inspire joy and free us from unnecessary suffering.
